Accessibility
People arrive at a psychiatric practice tired, distracted and sometimes in distress, often on a phone. A site that is hard to use fails those people first.
The standard we build to
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. Accessibility here is measured as the site is built and not audited once at the end.
What that means in practice
- Every run of text is measured against its real painted background, including text sitting over photographs and video, where automated tools cannot see the backdrop.
- Body text starts at 17 pixels and scales with your browser's text size setting.
- Controls are at least 44 pixels tall, which is the size a thumb can reliably hit.
- Every page works with JavaScript turned off. Scripting improves this site and never provides it.
- The whole site can be operated by keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a skip link to the main content.
- Animation is driven by the scroll position and stops entirely when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Headings are in order, images that carry meaning have text alternatives, and decoration is hidden from screen readers.
Known limitations
The home page uses a layered moving background. It respects the reduced motion setting, and on a screen where that setting is not available it will still move.
Booking and scheduling are operated through external platforms (including Headway) and are outside this site. Their accessibility is not something this practice directly controls. If you hit a barrier there, tell us anyway, because it is worth raising with them and there is more than one way to get you an appointment.
Tell us what is broken
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, call us at (812) 302-2004 (TTY: 711) or email contact@stillmindmentalhealth.com and describe what happened, including the page and the device or assistive technology you were using. Reports are acted on.
Booking an appointment must never depend on this website working for you. If it does not, call or email us and an appointment will be arranged another way.
Free aids and services for people with disabilities, including qualified sign language interpreters and materials in other formats, are described in the nondiscrimination notice.
If the site is in your way
Email us and the appointment gets arranged another way. That is a normal request and it is no trouble.
