What is offered
- Supportive therapy
- CBT-informed work
- Motivational interviewing
- Family and caregiver education
Therapy here runs alongside psychiatric care with the same clinician, so what comes up in a session and what happens with medication are never two separate accounts of the same month.
How the pace is set
Trauma-informed means you decide how much you tell and when. Nobody is required to narrate the worst thing that happened to them in order to be taken seriously, and a session that spends its hour on something ordinary is not a wasted one.
Sessions can run alongside medication or entirely without it. Plenty of people come for one and not the other.
Therapy still starts with an evaluation
The first appointment works out what you are dealing with and whether therapy, medication, or both is the right shape for it. That conversation is the same whichever way it comes out.
What we believe about therapy
Therapy is not the soft option running alongside the real treatment. For a good number of people it is the treatment, and medication is what clears enough room for it to work. Which of those is true for you is a clinical question, and it gets answered honestly even when the answer is that you need no prescription at all.
The work belongs to you. You set what gets talked about and how fast it moves, and progress is judged against what you came in wanting. Some of the most useful hours here look, from the outside, like an ordinary conversation. The principles behind that are set out in how care works here.
What is not offered
Specialised trauma protocols such as EMDR, and long-term intensive psychotherapy, are not provided here. Where one of those is what you need, you will be told plainly and helped to find it.
